Mass Torts

Mass torts describes a situation where a number of individuals who have suffered injuries or other damages from a common cause are handled individually but efficiency is gained by representing a group of such clients at the same time. This is to be contrasted to a class action where a few plaintiffs bring a claim on behalf of a large number of class members.

Such cases are handled on a contingent fee basis with the fee being a percentage of the recovery. There is no fee if there is no recovery.
